July is Disability Pride Month and CDEL is proud to celebrate! Disability Pride was first created in 1990 as a day to celebrate the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) on July 26, 1990. Over the years, the commemoration has expanded to the full month of July. While pride can be celebrated throughout the year, July is a specific opportunity to recognize the achievements and the challenges of the community of persons with disabilities.
Earlier this month, CDEL’s staff and interns had a lively in depth discussion about the importance of celebrating and recognizing what Disability Pride means and how CDEL as an organization can continue to celebrate and recognize Disability Pride all year long. CDEL has persons whose identities include disability among all stakeholder groups – Board, Staff, Interns, Volunteers and the clients that CDEL serves. We recognize both the importance of inclusion and the requirement to continue to evolve and become better.
CDEL takes pride in working to provide legal services to low income seniors and people with disabilities. There are few legal resources available to these vulnerable and underrepresented clienteles. CDEL is proud to serve all of our clients and provide critical legal assistance to those who need it most. |
