CDEL 2022 Year In Review

Over the past two years, the legal needs of Cook County’s seniors and people with disabilities have increased. CDEL has and will continue to rise to the challenge of ensuring quality legal counsel to low income seniors and people with disabilities in Cook County, IL. We would like to say a profound thank you to CDEL staff, volunteers, interns, Governing Board Members, Young Professionals Board members, community partners, and all of our generous CDEL supporters for everything they have done and continue to do to help us further our mission year after year.

In 2022, CDEL closed 2,644 case files.

CDEL serves low-income seniors and people with disabilities throughout Cook County. In 2022, approximately 63% of CDEL’s clients resided in Chicago, while 37% resided in the surrounding suburbs.

CDEL clients can qualify for CDEL’s services on age or disability status. However, many seniors that qualify on age status also identify as having a disability.

CDEL in the Community:

• Completed 21 Power of Attorney Workshops in conjunction with community partners.
• Scheduled over 300 appointments between 8 monthly Community Clinic sites in Chicago and Cook County.
• Reached over 2,250 people though outreach events.
• Trained over 155 Illinois licensed attorneys to participate in our pro bono programs.
