CDEL Welcomes Four New Board Members!

This summer, CDEL welcomed Four New Board Members to the CDEL Board of Directors. They are: Diane Bonina of Federal Signal Corporation; Talita Ramos Erickson of McDonald’s Corporation; Kristine Iida of Walgreen Co.; and Mary Quigg of Quigg & Associates, LLC.

Diane Bonina, Federal Signal Corporation

Diane Bonina is the Vice President, Secretary, and General Counsel at Federal Signal Corporation, where she serves Chief Legal Advisor and Chief Compliance Officer, advises the board, and oversees day to day management of the legal department.

Prior to joining Federal Signal Corporation in 2020, Diane worked at AT&T in several senior legal positions at AT&T. Before that, she worked as an associate in Jenner & Block’s Litigation Department. She started her legal career as a law clerk for the Honorable Cornelia G. Kennedy of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit in Detroit, Michigan.

Diane has been an active volunteer in her community. She provides pro bono representation through the Equal Justice Initiative and National Immigrant Justice Center; serves as a mentor and tutor through the Legal Prep Charter Academy; taught legal themed curriculum to Chicago Public School middle school students through the Edward J. Lewis Lawyers in the Classroom Program. She is also a long time volunteer with her alma mater, Dartmouth College.

Diane received her J.D from the University of Michigan Law School in 1989. She graduated from Dartmouth College with a B.A. in English with a minor in Environmental Studies in 1985.

Talita Ramos Erickson, McDonald’s Corporation

Talita Ramos Erickson is the Head of Legal Operations & Chief of Staff (Legal) for the McDonald’s Corporation. She describes herself as an experienced business leader, with a proven record of high performance under pressure and leading diverse teams to deliver on major projects. Often praised by colleagues and supervisors for leading with integrity, being results oriented, and maintaining a positive work environment even through challenging circumstances. 

Before joining the McDonald’s Corporation this year, Talita held many roles at the Barilla Group including General Counsel, President & CEO of Barilla Restaurants, serving as Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer on two different occasions, and most recently served as both the Chief Transformation Officer as well as the Chief Legal & Compliance Officer. Before that, at Kraft Foods Inc. She started her career at Kraft Foods Brazil first as an intern, and then as a Jr. Counsel and finally as Counsel before moving to Kraft Foods, Inc. in Northfield, Illinois where she was a corporate counsel and then a counsel for Global Strategic Transactions. 

Talita is a member of three Bar Associations: Brazil, New York, and Illinois. She has served on the board of two nonprofit organizations: The Cradle and the Hispanic Alliance for Career Enhancement. She has also been recognized as a leader in the U.S. Latinx business community, including Illinois Diversity Council 2017 Legal Champion award, 2019 Crain’s Notable General Counsel, 2019 Top 50 Most Powerful Latinas in Corporate America by ALPFA, and 2019 Chicago United Top 50 Business Leaders of Color. 

Talita graduated from the Federal University of Parana State School of Law in Brazil with a Bachelor’s of Laws, (equivalent to a J.D. from a U.S. accredited law school) in 2003. She then went on to receive her Masters of Laws in Business Law from Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 2006. Afterwards, she received her MBA from the University of Chicago School of Business in 2009 before getting her PhD in Law & Economics from the Universities of Bologna, Hamburg, and Rotterdam in 2012. 

Kristine Iida, Walgreen Co.

Kristine Iida is Senior Director, Managing Counsel, Corporate Law and Legal Operations at Walgreen Co., where she handles acquisitions, divestitures and investments for the company as well as managing legal operations for the Walgreens Legal Department.

Prior to joining Walgreens in 2000, Kristine was an associate attorney at Sonnenschein Nath and Rosenthal in its Chicago office. Before that, she was an associate attorney with Masuda Funai Eifert & Mitchell.

Kristine has been active in pro bono work since she became an attorney, with her first project being the lease negotiations for Marah’s Transitional Housing on behalf of Deborah’s Place, a housing and services support organization in Chicago serving homeless women. At Walgreens, she has been active in the Walgreens Legal Pro Bono Program since its inception in 2013 and regularly joins the CDEL Clinics for Power of Attorney preparation.

Kristine graduated from IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law in 1996. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Ripon College in 1986. Before going to law school, Kristine spent three years teaching English in rural Japan, traveling, and then working as a bilingual flight attendant between the US and Japan. Kristine and her husband, reside in Glenview, and are the proud parents of three children. Kristine sits on the Board of the Glenview Glencoe League of Women Voters and as a member at large on the Glenview Community Church Leadership Council.

Mary Quigg, Quigg & Associates, LLC

Mary Quigg is the principal of her firm, Quigg & Associates, PC. Her firm focuses on providing strategic counsel and negotiation of technology-related transactions for emerging growth and established technology and service clients. 

Previously, Mary worked at Salesforce as a Commercial Legal Senior Director from 2012 until 2022. There she managed the central region legal team in its support of sales teams, professional services teams, and global customers. She also worked as a senior corporate counsel for PeopleSoft, Inc until 2002. 

Mary has been a long-time CDEL volunteer. She has also volunteered with CARPLS and the Chicago Food Depository. She has served on the Friends of Public Education board as a secretary and was on the board of Family Focus. 

She received her J.D. from The John Marshall Law School and was admitted into the Illinois Bar in 1993. She received a Bachelor of Industrial Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
