CDEL Holds POA Workshop with Jesse Jackson Jr. Senior Housing |
|
|
Earlier this month, CDEL held a Power of Attorney workshop at Jesse Jackson Jr. Senior Housing in Harvey. While there, CDEL volunteers assisted 7 clients with drafting 17 documents. Monique Y. James, a Community Impact Coordinator for Social Services at Jesse Jackson Jr. Senior Housing, has worked with CDEL many times before and is grateful for the services CDEL can provide to her residents.
Monique had this to say about her experience with CDEL: “I have partnered with CDEL for several years to educate and encourage seniors to create important legal documents such as, Powers of Attorney and Living Will Declarations. These documents help ensure that they have the assistance and support needed for their finances and medical concerns to be managed according to their wishes; if they become ill or temporarily need an advocate. CDEL consistently provides professional leadership with compassionate guidance as they educate and assist their clients. CDEL is a shining example of dedicated volunteers making a difference in people’s lives!”
We are so grateful to our community partners and coordinators like Monique that work hard to make all of CDEL’s workshops a success. Thank you to Monique and Jesse Jackson Jr. Housing!

CDEL Says Goodbye to Our Summer Interns |
The summer is coming to an end and CDEL's interns are heading back to school! This summer, CDEL hosted its largest intern class yet with sixteen students from law school, paralegal school and undergraduate programs. Annie Poggioli, CDEL's PILI Intern who is entering her 2L year at Chicago-Kent College of Law, had this to say about her summer with CDEL:
"I think the most beneficial thing I learned with CDEL was how to communicate inclusively, ask questions with empathy, and just overall how to be a better advocate for clients. This experience has solidified my desire to pursue a career in the public interest field and I am so grateful for that!" Thank you to all of the great interns that worked with us this summer! |
